Two founders, four teachers
Six teachers, one circle.
Between them: the reformer and the pulley tower, prenatal work, strength for people who train hard elsewhere, and the gentlest classes on the schedule. Every one of them teaches on the group schedule and takes private clients.

Clara Velasco
GYROTONIC® Method and Pilates
- GYROTONIC® Method
- Pilates
Clara leads the circle side of the studio: one-to-one GYROTONIC® sessions on the pulley tower, and the Strong Back classes on the reformer.
Clara grew up in Santa Barbara swimming open water off East Beach. A shoulder injury in her twenties ended the racing and started her search for a better way to move, and the GYROTONIC® Method was what gave her a full, pain-free reach back.
She is a certified GYROTONIC® trainer with a comprehensive Pilates training on the full apparatus, and has taught in Santa Barbara since 2012. Her sessions start slowly and she explains a lot: she wants you to feel where a movement comes from before anything gets added to it.

Maren runs the reformer program. Ten years in a physical therapy clinic taught her to watch how people move before telling them how to.
Before Pilates, Maren spent ten years as a rehab aide in a physical therapy clinic, helping patients relearn everyday movements: getting up from a chair, reaching a shelf, turning to look over a shoulder. Pilates was where the clinic sent people next, and she followed them.
She completed a comprehensive classical Pilates training on the full apparatus and has taught group reformer and private sessions ever since. Maren plans every class format on the schedule, keeps classes to eight people, and still teaches the early ones herself.
Teacher

Theo teaches the faster reformer classes and works with runners, surfers and anyone who has been told to “do some core”.
Theo came to Pilates from strength coaching, looking for the control that heavy lifting kept skipping over. He teaches Reformer Flow and Jump Board, the two quickest classes on the schedule.
His privates suit people who train hard elsewhere: runners with tight hips, surfers with tired shoulders, lifters who want their backs to last.

Ines teaches Prenatal Reformer and works one to one with new parents getting back to movement after birth.
Ines teaches the Prenatal Reformer classes, with options ready for every trimester and every day that doesn’t go to plan.
After the birth she sees new parents one to one, starting with breath and the deep core and building back from there, at whatever pace the body sets.

Priya teaches the gentlest classes on the schedule. Ask for her if you are new, nervous or coming back after a long break.
Priya teaches most of the Reformer Foundations classes, where every spring and strap is set up with you before you move.
She also teaches the GYROTONIC® Method one to one, and she works well with older students and anyone who wants to go slowly and get it right.

Sam taught high school science and surfed before school for all of it. Pilates started as a way to keep paddling. He teaches the weekend classes.
Sam taught high school science for most of his career and surfed before school for all of it. Pilates started as a way to keep paddling, and turned into a second career.
He teaches Sunday Stretch and the Saturday reformer classes, and he is very good company at eight in the morning.
